Audible Original
Hosted by American Athletics Sports Star Michael Johnson.
I played a pivotal role in the production of this Audible Original Podcast Documentary.
In a whirlwind two-week period, often pushing through until the early morning hours, I worked side-by-side with Producer Simon Clancy. My role: to bring the audio technical knowhow to craft Simon’s vision.
Together, we meticulously crafted episode structures, seamlessly blending narration, interviews, music, and SFX. Our focus then shifted to meticulous adjustments, fine-tuning tempo and the mix for optimal results.
The culmination of our efforts resulted in the series clinching the “Best Audio Documentary” award at both the British Sports Journalism Awards and the Sports Podcast Awards.
Editing Tasks Included:
- Audio Clean-Up: Utilizing iZotope for precise removal of pops, clicks, and de-reverbing.
- Audio Quality Matching: Ensuring consistency as interviews were recorded worldwide under varying conditions.
- Compression, EQ, and Loudness Balancing (LUFS): Fine-tuning the audio for a polished and professional result.
- Narrative Edits: Seamlessly removing “Umms,” “aahs,” and pauses for compelling storytelling.
- Music and FX Integration: Adding Intro/Outro music, episodal music, and FX to enhance the overall experience.
- Mastering: Preparing the final mix to meet Audible’s exacting standards for publication.
